Most bodies, however, were never recovered. At ESMA, which also served as a disposal site for other naval camps, corpses were burned daily, or bodies were disposed at sea. Initially, though, bodies began to wash up in Buenos Aires and Montevideo - so they realized they had to sent the planes further out to sea.
